Magnificent Multnomah Falls

This is the iconic Multnomah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge just east of Portland, Oregon. It drops 620’ and the water splashing is deafening (but in a good way). A must see in the Pacific Northwest.

Field of Greens

Taken at The Palouse in eastern Washington, this is 5 million acres of fields of wheat, barley, bluegrass, and others. The sunrises and sunsets here are absolutely breathtaking!

Burning Bush

One of the most photographed trees on the west coast. This Lace Leaf Maple is at the Portland Japanese Gardens during peak Fall colors. Photographers at times can wait up to an hour in line to capture this beauty. Breathtaking in person!

Into the Abyss

This is certainly one of the most spectacular, and dangerous photos I have ever taken. Thor’s Well is situated near Cape Perpetua on the Oregon coast. Also known as the drainpipe of the Pacific, it’s actually a hole in a rock that only appears to drain water from the ocean. The site is most impressive during high tides where the observer runs the risk of getting totally soaked and/or washed away by sneaker waves. Yes, I got wet, but survived the crashing waves to tell my story through photos.

Cowboy's Best Friend

This is Montana, and this is a real Cowboy with his dog Zip. I photographed them during an outing near the base of the Rocky Mountains. The dog is faster than a speeding bullet and really loves the outdoors and his “job”.

Star Light, Star Bright

I recently attended a workshop with fellow Photographers for Astrophotography near Mt. Rainier. The experience was phenomenal! Learning how to use a Star-Tracker (so the stars stay focused), and learning how to stay up until 2AM. This of course is the Milky Way over Mt. Rainier with Tipsoo Lake in the foreground. Definitely worth staying up late for this!

That is the South Sister Mountain as seen from Sparks Lake in central Oregon. Never disappoints!

Time to Reflect

This image was selected by a jury to be included in the 2023 Portland Japanese Gardens Calendar. This image also won an award from the Professional Photographers of America. These gardens are only a stone’s throw from downtown Portland, and is an oasis that takes you to another place and time. It is so peaceful there, I visit often. If in Portland, any time of year, I encourage you to visit. Of course, you can purchase a calendar in their gift shop. :)
